The guy had very few friends. . .so they only numbers in his phone WERE his loved ones. . .and his body was on top of the phone so it randomly ended up calling all the people in his phonebook. . .who just so happened to only be his loved ones because he had no friends.

Because the man was immensely fat and the phone was completely lost somewhere within the span of all his blubber.

Or, he could have all his loved ones on speed-dial. Since only about 5 people were called, that's quite plausible. As for the missing phone, I guess it's stolen by the first rescue worker who got there.
